Welcome to our new inventory for 2026! I will begin adding pictures soon, but for now, I’m listing all 52 peppers varieties we plan to raise. I am over-wintering many pepper varieties from last year, of which I will have more mature options.

Yellow Monsters: Behemoth, yellow bell peppers that can grow 8 inch long by 4 inch wide. Impressive sunshine-yellow fruits! Delicious green or yellow. SHU: 0

Violet Sparkle: Originally sent to Baker Seeds from a Russian seed trader. Pointed, wedge-shaped fruit is purple streaked with pale yellow, ripening to red. Sweet and crisp. SHU: 0

Ajvarski: Amazingly fragrant Macedonian roasting pepper. Stocky, 2 foot plants covered in 5-6inch rich, thick-walled red pods. SHU: 0

Jimmy Nardello Italian: A very sweet and tasty Italian pepper brought to the States by the Nardello family in 1887. Long, thin-skinned frying pepper, dries easily and has such a rich flavor. Best when ripened to red. Prolific and adaptable. SHU: 0

Giant Aconcagua: A delicious, sweet frying pepper from Argentina. A 3 foot tall plant, with loads of 12 inch, thick walled peppers- it benefits from staking. SHU: 0

Lesya: Believed to be the sweetest of all peppers, with thick, juicy flesh, ripening to a beautiful red. Native to Ukraine. SHU: 0

Habanada: Enjoy the fruity and floral notes of the Habanero, without the heat! Ripens to a stunning tangerine color! Great in salads. SHU: 0

The Scoville Heat Units or SHU is the heat rating of peppers. An SHU of 0 indicates no spicy heat, the highest rated peppers are in the millions.

Cubanelle: A pepper popular with Cuban, Puerto Rican and Dominican cuisine. 6 inch pepper ripens to red for it’s sweetest flavor. SHU: 100 – 500

Ashe County Pimento: This is a sweet heirloom pepper from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. It produces 3-4 inch bright red, heart shaped peppers. It’s a compact, early producing plant, that thrives in a short growing season. SHU: 0-100

Shishito: An old Japanese variety, produces fruit about 3 inches long, slightly wrinkled. Great for making Tempura and other traditional recipes. SHU: 50-200

Manganji: This is a sweet green pepper from Japan. A cross between Fushimi togarashi and the California Wonder Green Bell peppers. It can grow to 6 inches long, and can turn dark purple to black to protect itself from the sun, but turns back to green with cooking. SHU: 100

Sweet Banana: A favorite of home gardens. The peppers start green, turning yellow, then red when fully ripe for the sweetest fulavor. SHU: 50-100

Tobago Seasoning: This is a Caribbean seasoning pepper, a traditional ingredient in jerk seasoning. It produces beautiful 2-3 inch long scarlet pods with the fruity undertones of a Habanero, without the heat. SHU: 500

Pimento Sweet Pepper: This is a mild, sweet, heart-shaped red pepper, often used in Southwest cuisine. SHU: 100-500

Arroz Con Pollo: SHU: This is a delicious Caribbean seasoning pepper from Cuba. It looks like a Habanero, but has no heat when the seeds are removed. SHU: 1 – 500 when deseeded.

Mild peppers

These mildly-hot peppers are often tolerated by the most heat-sensitive individuals, especially when roasted, which diminishes the heat. SHU: 500-2,500 .

Brown Jalapeno: Wildly productive plants are smothered in leviathan chocolate-colored pods. These mild, smoky, flavorful peppers average 4-5 inch long. Ideal for stuffing and roasting. High yields, fabulous flavor and vigorous growth habit have earned these peppers top marks ! This pepper makes a great base for jalapeno jelly, as well as for making strawberry-jalapeno lemonade! SHU: 200-2,000

Black Hungarian: This heirloom pepper is ornamental and delicious! Unique, black fruit shaped like jalapenos. Mildly hot, it ripens from black to dark red, with a delicious flavor. SHU: 2,500

Sweet Bonnet: All the flavor of the scorching hot Caribbean Scotch Bonettt, without any real heat. SHU: 500

Leutschauer Paprika: A wonderful drying pepper coming from Hungary in the 1800’s. Great for making traditional Hungarian Paprika powder. SHU: 1,000 – 2,500

Poblano: Classic Chili Relleno type. 3 to 6 inch heart-shaped fruits. Also makes great chili powder. SHU: 1,000 – 2,000

Marconi Red: This is a large sweet Italian heirloom pepper. Known for thick walls, juicy fleshy, fruity flavor and vibrant red color when mature. Excellent fresh or cooked. Can grow 8-12 inches long. These may or may not have slight heat. SHU: 0-1000

Botan Kosho Chili : This is a rare, sweet, thick-fleshed Japanese pepper. It starts sweet, with a very mild heat. Used to make Yuzo Kosho paste. SHU: 1,000- 2,500

Anaheim: This is a mild chili pepper that originated in New Mexico. It is much milder than a jalapeno. SHU: 500 – 2000

Moderately Hot Peppers

These peppers are ideal for salsa, sauces and spicy dishes.. SHU: 2,000-25,000

Zapotec Jalapeno: A more flavorful, gourmet Jalapeno, this ancient heirloom sings with smoky sweet flavor and heat! Ancient variety from Oaxaca, Mexico. 2-3 foot tall plants covered in 1-2 inch deep green pods that ripen to a carnival red color with tan crack lines. Considered hot for a Jalapeno. SHU: 5,000-10,000

Orange Spice Jalapeno: A small, orange, fruity Jalapeno. Developed New Mexico State University. SHU: 3,000 – 7,000

Rezha Macedonia: An interesting addition to any garden or patio, this Macedonian pepper has an engraved appearance of concentric circles. Very unusual looking, it also has a smoky flavor, with heat level between a jalapeno and a cayenne pepper. SHU: 2,000 – 8,000

Zebrange: A cross between Aji Fantasy and Christmas Bell, this pepper transforms from green to vivid orange with red stripes with a sweet, tropical fruity flavor. A prolific producer, the plants can reach 6 foot, and benefit from staking. SHU: 5,000 – 10,000

Trapadeira Werner: A wild Brazilian variety, this 2 foot bushy plant is speckled with oodles of round 1 inch, lipstick red peppers. Excellent fresh, but especially nice when pickled or used in hot sauce. SHU 5,000 – 15,000

Serrano Tampiquino: A traditional Mexican style serrano pepper. This is a superb salsa variety. SHU 10,000 – 25,000

Fresno: This is a 2-3 inch, thin walled pepper that has a flavor similar to jalapeno peppers, but slightly hotter and sweeter. SHU: 2,500 – 10,000

Kalugeritsa: This is a rare heirloom pepper from North Macedonia, named after the village where it’s grown. It has a flavor similar to a jalapeno, excellant for roasting, drying, soups and sauces. It matures to a short, dark red pepper. SHU: 2,500 – 8,000

Big Jim: The worlds largest chili pepper. These large plants produce lots of pods can grow to nearly a foot long, maturing to red. Can be enjoyed green or red. Developed at New Mexico State Univ. SHU: 3,000

Jalapeno M: This is a common jalapeno found in grocery stores, 3-5 inch green pods that can ripen to red. SHU: 2,500 – 8,000

Hot Peppers

Buena Mulata: An historic variety from African American folk artist, Horace Pippin. A chameleon-like pepper, starting violet to pinkish-flesh, then orange to brown, then deep red. Long round pods 6-7 inch. Unique flavor. SHU: 30,000-50,000

Lemon Drop: This is a seasoning pepper from Peru. It ripens to a lemon yellow, and may have a purple blush. It has a slightly citrusy heat. Popular dried, or used in jellies. SHU: 30,000 – 50,000

Sugar Rush Peach: Exciting new heirloom variety bred by hot pepper prodigy Chris Fowler of Wales. Long, 3-6 inch, peach colored fruits are packed with loads of sweet, tropical flavor and the seeds bring a complex, smoky heat. Delicious in jalapeno jelly. Plants can grow up to 5 feet tall! SHU: 50,000-100,000

Aji Charapita: A super tiny pepper from Peru, where, often grown as a houseplant, the small peppers are harvested as needed in the kitchen. The pepper has a distinctive fruity, citrus aroma and is equal in heat to a cayenne pepper. SHU: 50,000-100,000

Chiltepin Wild Chile: Native to the southwestern United States. Tiny pea-sized red peppers. Revered by Native American Tribes where it plays a role in food, history and culture. SHU: 50,000 – 100,000

Chinese 5 Color: A beautiful ornamental plant. Peppers start purple, then change color to cream, yellow, orange and red. This plant makes an eye-catching patio plant. The peppers add wonderful color to salsa. SHU: 30,000 – 50,000 ( these are 1 yr old plants, prices vary with container $15 – $25)

Pequin: This is a small fiery chili pepper native to the Southwestern U.S. and Mexico, known for it’s citrusy, nutty flavor. A common ingredient for Mexican sauces, especially Cholula hot sauce. SHU: 30,000 – 60, 000

Cheyenne: This is a heavy-producing chili pepper that matures to bright orange, 4 inch pods. The growth habit makes it an excellent choice for pots and hanging baskets, as well as the garden. SHU: 30,000 – 50,000

Datil: Famous in St. Augustine, Florida, where it’s celebrated with the annual Datil Pepper Festival. Blazing hot yellow peppers grow on tall plants, heavy producers. Excellent in sauces and desserts and jalapeno jelly. SHU 100,000 – 300,000

Jamaican Scotch Bonnet: The fruity, full-bodied flavor of this pepper is the backbone of Jamaican jerks, curries and other Caribbean delicacies. SHU: 100,0000 – 350,000

Antillais Red Caribbean Habanero: A fruity flavored Habanero from the Dutch Antillais Caribbean Islands. Peppers mature from light green to red, about 2 inches long. SHU: 250,000 – 350,000

Yellow Thai: This is a spicy yellow chili pepper, known for it’s fruity, citrusy notes. Great for making spiced coffee!! SHU: 50,000 – 100,00

Bird’s Eye Red Thai: This is a small chili pepper that is mostly used in Asian, African, Spanish and Portuguese cooking. SHU: 50,000 – 100,000

Bhut Jolokia, Red (aka: Ghost Pepper): Legendary variety, one of the world’s hottest peppers. Thin-walled fruit ripen to red. Great for a hot jalapeno jelly! SHU: 800,000-1.1 million

Jay’s Peach Bhut Jolokia: The legendary Ghost Pepper in peach sherbert tones. SHU: 1 million

Apocalypse Scorpion: One of the world’s hottest, developed by Italian Pepper Lover’s Association and released in 2015. Superhot Scorpion type peppers. SHU: 1.4 million

Carolina Reaper: Our hottest pepper, these fruit are fiery red with a scythe-shaped tail at blossom end. SHU: 1.4-2.2 million

Orange Carolina Reaper: This is a rare strain of the Carolina Reaper that produces orange pods that have a stinger on the end. The plant grows 2-3 ft tall. A cross between the Carolina Reaper and orange Trinidad Moruga Scorpion.

SHU: 1.4 – 2.2 million

Chocolate Trinidad Scorpion: This is a cocoa-colored strain of the Trinidad Scorpion Pepper. The flavor is comparatively mellow, less acidic, with smoky undertones. A cross between a Trinidad and Tobago Pepper.

Pepper Care

Pepper plants like moist, well-drained, rich soil. They like full sun, excepting late afternoon sun during the hottest weather, which can be damaging to plants. They are NOT frost tolerant, but can be kept for 5-7 years when brought inside annually, before the first freeze. The larger the pot, the larger the plant and higher yield. Pepper plants that are transplanted into pots, with aggressive trimming of the roots and stem, are known as Bonchi pepper plants.

Tomatoes

We have 9 tomato varieties.

Roma Tomato :(determinate) is a sauce tomato. Large, plum-shaped fruit. It has a thick flesh, freezes well and is great in salsa and soups.

Kellogg’s Breakfast Tomato: A yellow heirloom beefsteak tomato, originated in West Virginia. Sweet, with lots of flavor.

Brad’s Atomic Grape Tomato: (indeterminate) Our favorite cherry tomato!! A new release from Wild Boar Farms, they are crack-resistant cherry tomatoes, in wild technicolor shades and stripes. Amazingly sweet. Wonderful for snacking and salads.

Sweet 100 Cherry-

Purple Cherokee Tomato: This American Heirloom tomato dates back to the 1800, cultivated by the Cherokee Indians of Tennessee. They produce large, sweet fruits with purple-brown skin and a reddish purple flesh. Delicious flavor for sandwiches or salads.

Pink Thai Egg Tomato: (indeterminate) This Thai heirloom tomato is pink and egg-shaped. Tasty, sweet flavor.

Chinese Wool Flower

(Celosia)

This annual flower and plant are a delicious edible ornamental, eaten tempura style, on pizza and in salads. Blooms like a tangle of colorful yarn.

Zinnia

Benary’s Giant Coral Zinnia: 4 to 5 inch coral pink zinnias on 4 to 5 foot tall stems

Redman Super Cactus Zinnia: This is a magnificent , huge red flowered variety of the giant, cactus family type of zinnia. Deep red, with cactus-type petals. This is a throwback to classic zinnia fashion, that has become more rare.

Lila Cactus Zinnia: Gargantuan 4 to 6 inch, lilac-colored blooms have a unique quilled petals, 2 to 2 1/2 feet tall with long sturdy stems for cutting.

Oklahoma Salmon Zinnia: 2 1/2 inch salmon colored blossoms ranging from semi-double to uber-double bloom.

Benary’s Giant Deep Red Zinnia: Huge ruby-red blossoms steal the show in the flower bed.

Oklahoma White Zinnia: 2 inch white semi-double blossoms on strong stems, 3 foot tall plants.

Oklahoma Golden Yellow Zinnia: 2 inch golden yellow blossoms on strong stems. 2 1/2 foot tall plants.

Marigold

Great border plants for flower bed for spectacular color, great companion plants for vegetable garden to keep pests at bay

Kilimanjaro White Marigold: A unique white marigold with 2 inch creamy-white blossoms.

Sugar and Spice Marigold: 2 inch buttery yellow blooms on 16 inch plants

Safari Scarlet Marigold: Dwarf plants, 8 to 10 inches tall, with orange anemone- type blooms.

Toothache Plant

Bulls Eye: The Toothache Plant has yellow flowers, is edible and has long been grown for it’s medicinal qualities. Chewing the plant and flowers causes tingling and numbness in the mouth and tinctures made with the flowers is used for upset stomach.

Mums

Annual Chrysanthemums: We provide a variety of Chrysanthemums that you don’t see in every yard in the fall. These annual plants have a much more exotic, showy blossom. They make excellent cut flowers. They have to be protected from the winter temperatures to survive, and are wonderful in containers.

Herbs:

Genovese Basil: A legendary heirloom variety that no Italian chef can cook without. It was first bred in the Northwest costal port of Genoa. A good container variety.

Moss Curled Parsley: This is a fancy, extra-ruffled version of this Mediterranean herb.

Cilantro: A classic, pungent herb. Delicious in sauces, salsas and salads. The seeds are known as coriander, and are used as a spice.

Broad Leaf Sage: The pretty grey-green leaves have a fresh, bold aroma. Sage develops tiny purple flowers that attract bees and beneficial pollinators.
